There were mixed conditions for the finals at the World Rowing U23 Championships in Varese, Italy. The first day was assisted by a tail wind, but on the second day conditions were less favourable. Racing was no less exciting, however.

The women’s four – Holly Mills, Rebecca Leigh, Phoebe Collier, Isobel Eliadis-Watson and Annabel Wynn-Williams – came sixth in the A final. The men’s four – Joshua Vodanovich, Blake Bradshaw, Seth Hope, Zackary Rumble and Ella Greenslade – were also sixth in their A final. There was a fifth in the B final for the women’s pair – Sally Wylaars and Amelia Barrell – and a win for the women’s quadruple sculls crew in the B final: Brooke Kilmister, Olivia Hay, Veronica Wall and Kathryn Glen.

Kobe Miller finished fourth in the C final of the men’s single sculls, and Logan Docherty and Reuben Cook were fourth in the C final of the lightweight men’s double. Sophie Egnot-Johnson and Madeleine Parker were sixth in the B final of the women’s double sculls.

In the A final of the men’s coxless four, Angus Gilbert, Logan Ullrich, Campbell Crouch and Flynn Eliadis-Watson were second behind Great Britain, taking home a silver medal.

And finally, the men’s quadruple sculls crew of Jack Ready, Ben Olifiers, Jonte Wright
and Benjamin Mason won bronze in the A final behind Italy and Germany, after a tight battle with the crews from the Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
