In memory of Dave Williamson

  • 21 Jun 22

Dave Williamson passed away peacefully yesterday (Saturday 18 June) at home surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dave although never a rower himself, contributed a lot to the sport over the years. Dave initially got involved when his daughter Gemma who attended Marlborough Girls College, competed at Maadi in 2000. Dave became part of the coaching team with John Robinson at the College. When John left to take up another position, Dave took on the role of Head Coach at Marlborough Girls College.

Dave was also a Manager at the Canadian Henley in 2010 and got involved with Hawkes Bay Rowing Club when he shifted to Havelock North with his wife Sharon to slow down and be closer to family.

Dave has been big part of rowing in Marlborough and will be really missed by all his fellow coaches and friends throughout the rowing community of NZ.

Dave’s funeral service is to be held at 2pm on Wednesday 22nd June at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church - 85 Te Mata Road, Havelock North. This will be followed by an afternoon tea.

The livestream of Dave Williamson’s funeral on 22 June will begin around 1.30pm (30mins before the funeral starts) and can be viewed here:
