High Performance

Rowing is one of New Zealand's most medaled Olympic sport with 29 medals including 14 gold medals.

Results over the last few decades demonstrate our ability to win Olympic and World Championship medals.

About Rowing New Zealand High Performance

Each year Rowing New Zealand selects teams to represent New Zealand at international rowing competitions.

The core international competitions that are of immense importance to the Rowing New Zealand High Performance programme are the Olympic Games (held every 4 years - with the next Games in Paris in 2024) and Senior World Championships (held each year).

The Rowing World Cup series comprises three regattas held each year and overall winners are determined by points that are awarded to the top finishing boats at each event.  The elite team from time to time attends events such as the Henley Royal Regatta.

Rowing New Zealand also selects developing athletes to compete in the U23 World Rowing Championships, U21 New Zealand vs Australia two series competition, Junior World Rowing Championships and the University Trans Tasman competition each year.

New Zealand university students have also represented New Zealand at the World University Rowing Championships which are held every two years, and rowers have also raced at the Universiade (Summer University Games).
