Rowing is a unique sport: Success demands individual mastery of a skill, then total application of this skill in a team environment.

No individual has ever crossed the line first, without the help of his crew, on and/or off water.

Rowing is about the crew, your mates and doing your best for the team.

Rowing entails a very demanding journey, one that offers great rewards and lifelong friendships to those who make the effort.

Tauranga Boy’ College has a long legacy in Rowing. The boys learn teamwork, resilience and belief in hard work. These are values that can be carried through all aspects of life at school and beyond.

Rowing offers boys a chance to travel to the New Zealand Secondary Schools Championships from their first season. In 2024, they will compete at Lake Ruataniwha in Twizel, South Island, which is an exciting opportunity and a fantastic experience for the squad.

The boys are taught from scratch, as few have any prior training before commencing the school program.
