The Milford Foundation and Rowing NZ are investing in the Emerging School Rowing Scholarship once again for the 2026/2027 season, helping school rowing programmes in their infancy find their stroke with a $10,000 boost.
Milford Foundation is doubling the scholarship for 2026/2027
After seeing first-hand the impact the scholarship has had on the 2025/2026 recipient, Hillmorton High School, the Milford Foundation has generously doubled the scholarship for 2026/2027. There will be a $10,000 scholarship for a South Island school and another for a North Island school.
The schools could be in their first season of having a rowing programme in place, its programme could have been re-established or maybe it’s a school that has struggled to get the numbers simply because of its size and location.
The schools will need to demonstrate their desire to develop and grow their programme as part of the application process for this scholarship.
The $10,000 cash for the successful schools will be put towards costs related to their rowing programmes: travel expenses (to and from regattas), uniform costs, coaching courses, etc.
Eligibility
- They must have a vision for their rowing programme / plans to develop in the future.
- They must demonstrate a valid need for the financial support.
Applications have now closed for 2026/2027. An annoucement will be made in due course.
