Registering, Licensing & Transferring Rowers
REGISTERING
Connect with your rowing Club/ School/ University to receive their Rowing Connect registration link. Follow the link to register with your local Rowing Association and Rowing New Zealand.
Rowers and Cox, once you have registered, your details will be available to RowIT. Once your Coach logs into RowIT, they will need to click 'Import All Data' to bring across latest registrations in Rowing Connect, then can enter athletes into regattas.
LICENSING
Rowers/Cox, when registering via Rowing Connect, you will be asked if you wish to obtain a 2026/27 RNZ Competition license. This is required to compete in one of the licensable regattas this season.
RNZ licensable regattas are:
- New Zealand Rowing Championships
- New Zealand Secondary School Rowing Championships (Maadi)
- New Zealand Masters Rowing Championships
- New Zealand University Rowing Championships
- North Island Club Rowing Championships
- North Island Secondary School Rowing Championships
- South Island Club Rowing Championships
- South Island Secondary School Rowing Championships
- Canterbury Rowing Championships
- Otago Rowing Championships
- Karāpiro Christmas Regatta
- North Island Junior Regatta
- South Island Junior Regatta
Please note, if you select a 2026/27 Competition license, payment will not be requested upfront at time of registration. Rowing New Zealand will invoice your Club $103.50+gst at the end of the season for your 2026/27 Competition license.
TRANFERRING ROWERS/COXWAINS
Where an athlete has previously rowed for another school/club, the new club needs to check with the athlete's previous club that there are no outstanding debts. Once confirmation is received, please let RNZ know (email nicole@rowingnz.kiwi).
If the athlete has already registered on Rowing Connect with their previous club, RNZ will transfer the athlete to your organisation.
If the athlete has not yet registered via Rowing Connect, they will register with their new rowing Club/School rowing Connect registration link.
RECLASSIFICIAION
If you believe you have been incorrectly reclassified for this season, you can apply to be reclassified.
Clubs must submit the reclassification application on behalf of the athlete seeking reclassification. The relevant association must be notified of the application and provide its endorsement.
2026/27 Reclassification Application Dates:
- 9am 4 October 2026 - 12pm 22 October 2026
- 9am 11 January 2027 - 12pm 22 January 2027
