Best Rowing Camp Food – words from our rowing whanau
We ran a competition recently, asking you to let us know what food went down the best for you at rowing camp. There were some excellent entries, so we are sharing them in case you need some inspiration!
Best food at a rowing camp must be my wife's pulled pork buns with coleslaw at Epworth Camp, Karapiro. The pork had been cooked for a good amount of time but had kept all the juices plus the BBQ sauce! Mmm, Delish! But now I'm hungry LOL.
Thomas

Protein muffins, banana, blueberry, bran with protein powder. The best!!
Not too heavy for nervous tummies, just enough to tie you over until the next food intake.
Joanne
The best food is from our volunteer teacher-in-charge Amanda. She makes the best chicken pasta and always followed by her rocky road on treat night - delicious! She even keeps coming to camps even though her son has left school for uni!
Kellie

The best rowing camp food I had was left over lasagne as we had been on the water for what seemed to be WEEKS ha ha. That lasagne tasted like a meal you win if your on the TV show Survivor Island, where you haven’t eaten anything but rice and beans for a week!
Claire
Steak cooked on a BBQ with chips, a salad, a nice red wine and consumed while looking at the evening sun setting over Lake Karapiro.
Mike

My daughter loves good old fashioned scrambled eggs before a long training row, also macaroni & cheese as an alternative.
Yvette
Butter chicken is definitely the best!
Corina

Amazing, healthy chocolate brownies made with basically two thirds red kidney beans to one third dark chocolate, with a few eggs and a bit of honey thrown in. Best post row food ever!
