  • December U19 Development Camps

Lake Karapiro

Post- Xmas Regatta:  Sunday 18 December – Monday 19 December 2022

Lake Ruataniwha

Pre-Otago Regatta*:  Thursday 8 December – Friday 9 December 2022     OR

Post-Otago Regatta**:  Sunday 11 December – Monday 12 December 2022

This will provide an opportunity for approximately 70 invited U19 athletes to learn more about Rowing NZ's athlete pathway and selection processes and will allow selectors to see the athletes outside of racing.

Athletes must indicate if they wish to be considered and are available for the camp when they submit their nomination.

Selection to the Development Camps will be based on the 5km or 30min submitted ergs or at the discretion of the U19 selectors.

Whilst this is a good opportunity for athletes to be seen, non-participation does not exclude athletes from U19 selection.

The cost of the camp will be between $40-80 depending on what camp you attend.  Invited athletes will be notified by 24 November.

*South Island camps set up to coincide with programs having camps before or after the Otago Champs.  Those on camp with their own program before Otago Champs will only be required to attend a presentation on Thursday 8 December 6pm-8:30pm (dinner provided) and a row and presentation on Friday 9 December 6:20am-10am (breakfast provided after row).  No accommodation will be provided.  The cost for this camp will be $40.

**Those on camp with their own program after Otago Champs will only be required to attend a presentation on Sunday 11 December 5pm-8:30pm (dinner provided) and a row and presentation on Monday 12 December 6:30am – 10am (breakfast provided after row).  No accommodation will be provided.  The cost for this camp will be $40.

Those not on camp with their own program in the South Island, can attend the camp from 11 – 12 December and accommodation and meals will be provided for you from 4:30pm, 11 December until 1:30pm 12 December.  The cost for this camp will be $80.

The cost for the North Island Camp will be $80, with accommodation and meals provided.

  • December U19 Development Camps Coaches

Rowing NZ invite coaches wishing to be involved in the camps to fill out an expression of interest by 14 November 2022.

Applications are encouraged to be made by coaches working with Junior aged athletes looking to gain experience on the high-performance pathway, as well as those wanting to be considered for age group campaigns.  Following a selection process, coaches will be invited to attend one of the camps and all nominees will be notified by 24 November.

Nominations for all 2023 age group team coaching positions will be open in mid-November 2022 and close mid-January 2023.

Nominations forms can be found here.
