2024 Age Group Team Nominations & Development Camps
Nominations
The athlete nominations for the 2024 age group teams can be found here (with the exception of U18s) along with the links to submit erg test scores for selection consideration.
Athlete nominations for the 2024 U23, World Uni, U21 and U19 teams are open and will close on Sunday the 19th of November 2023. 5km erg tests for NZ based U23, World Uni and U21 nominees must also be submitted within this period*.
*US based U23 nominees have from 1 October to 1 December to submit their 5km/6km result.
U19 nominees can submit either a 5km or a 30 min @ 20 test.
Selections for all age group development camps will be announced by Friday 24 November.
Athlete nominations for U18 North and South teams will open on Monday 1 January 2024 and will close on Sunday 25 February 2024. A 2km test will need to be completed and submitted within this period.
Further selection requirements will come out with the 2024 Rowing NZ High Performance Selection Guidelines.
Development Camps – Athletes
This will provide an opportunity for approximately 70 invited U19 athletes and approximately 50 U21 athletes and approximately 36 U23 athletes to learn more about Rowing NZ's athlete pathway and selection processes and will allow selectors to see the athletes outside of racing.
Athletes must indicate if they wish to be considered and are available for the camp when they submit their nomination.
Selection to the Development Camps will be based on the November erg submission or at the discretion of the selectors.
Whilst this is a good opportunity for athletes to be seen, non-participation does not exclude athletes from U19, U21 or U23 selection.
There will be a cost associated with these camps. The cost will be indicated on the nomination form. Invited athletes will be notified by 24 November.
The dates of the Development Camps for selected athletes are as follows:
U23:
U23 Development Camp (US and NZ athletes): 19-23 December 2023 – Lake Karāpiro
U21:
U21 South Island Development Camp: 6-8 December 2023 – Lake Ruataniwha
U21 North Island Development Camp: 13-15 December 2023 – Lake Karāpiro
U19:
U19 South Island Development Camp: 10-12 December 2023 – Lake Ruataniwha
U19 North Island Development Camp: 17-19 December 2023 – Lake Karāpiro

Coaching
Rowing NZ invites coaches wishing to be involved in the 2023 U19 and U21 development camps to fill out an expression of interest. This form will be available from the 16- 26 October via the Rowing NZ website. Coaches for the U23 development camp will be invited by RNZ.
Applications are encouraged to be made by coaches working with U19 and U21 aged athletes looking to gain experience on the high-performance pathway, as well as those wanting to be considered for age group campaigns. Following a selection process, coaches will be invited to attend one of the camps and all nominees will be notified by 24 November.
Nominations for the 2024 U19 and U21 teams coaching positions will be open on 27 September 2023 and will close 26 October 2023. Nominations for the 2024 U23 coaching will open on 27 September 2023 and will close on 10 October 2023.
