Paralympics

The Paralympic Games is held every four years and includes Para rowing.

Para rowing was introduced into the Paralympic programme in 2005 and at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games it was held for the first time.

The Paralympic Games are not just about winning medals, they are also about inspiring others and breaking down barriers.

Qualification regattas are held to select the quota of 104 athletes that will compete at the Games.

At the Paralympic level, Para rowing is open to male and female athletes and starting in 2017, the race distance changed from 1000m to 2000m for all events.

The following Para rowing events will take place at the Paris 2024 Paralympics between 30 August and 1 September 2024:

  • PR1 single sculls: W1X (women’s)
