Canterbury Rowing Club prides itself on its culture and offers great rowing at all levels. Last season we had a strong contingent of about 25 novice, intermediate, club and senior rowers who trained for the NZ Club Champs. We train out of our shed at Kerrs Reach (Avonside, Christchurch) where we have a good variety of boats and ergs.

Our club programme runs from the start of September and consists of 3-8 weekly training sessions (depending on rowing experience and the time of year). Our usual training times are 5:45pm or 5:45am weekdays, as well as a weekend morning. We attend Marlborough, Otago, Canterbury, South Islands and National Championships, as well as some smaller local regattas throughout the season.

CRC offers more than just rowing, we have a solid social calendar that ensures everyone has a great time off the water as well. CRC is a club for the rowers, run by the rowers. We train hard, race hard and have an awesome time with the squad while we do it.

Our club membership has been steadily increasing and getting great results. We’re looking to build on our result of 4th overall club at the NZ Club Champs last year. It’s an exciting time for Canterbury Rowing Club – let us know if you’re keen to get on board!

We are looking for an enthusiastic coach to support our Head Coach, Josh Schmidt, in running our club rowing programme. You’ll share your passion and knowledge of the sport to help our athletes reach their full potential. Great teamwork, commitment, leadership, organisation and communication skills are must-haves for this role.

You will be required to attend training sessions, regattas and a training camp. The training camp is held for 5-6 days in early January. We expect to have around 30-35 club athletes this season, ranging from novice to senior.

This position will be paid. The level of payment will depend on experience and funding. We are happy to discuss this in more detail.

Hours can be negotiated, however an approximate requirement is 10-15 hours per week from September to February, a 5 day training camp in early January, 3-4 weekend regattas and the week-long NZ Champs.
