Coach Development Webinar - Introduction to Sports Psychology for coaches with Warrick Wood

Coaching is a complex and multidimensional role. Warrick’s presentation will provide an introduction into sport psychology, including what it involves and some important areas for consideration when looking to integrate sport psychology principles into our coaching. Some key points of emphasis will be discussing performance mindset and basic psychological needs.

Warrick Wood, PhD, is a lecturer of sport and exercise psychology at Massey University, based on the Auckland campus. Warrick is also an accredited (HPSNZ; SESNZ) mental skills trainer working with a range of development/elite athletes and teams. Additionally, Warrick leads the psychology component of Core Knowledge, HPSNZ’s new coach development programme. Before shifting focus to sport psychology, Warrick studied coaching at the undergrad and masters level and coached basketball in New Zealand and North America.
