Mercer Rowing Club is set on the Waikato River at Mercer, with excellent training water both upstream and down.

Established in 1909, we have a proud tradition in rowing, having produced many regional and international representatives over the decades. We are a non-profit, fully volunteer club whose catchment covers the wider Franklin area. One of our main goals is to introduce young people from our district to rowing and encourage them to pursue our awesome sport as far as their will and determination will take them.

The schools that row out of our club are Pukekohe High School, Te Kauwhata College, Onewhero Area School, Waiuku College and Tuakau College. We provide all equipment, coaching, management and logistics free of charge to the schools. Rowers compete for Mercer club for the first two thirds of the season and then compete for their school in last third of the season, all the way through to National Secondary School Champs, if selected. We also have a very dedicated group of Masters rowers.

Mercer's excellent training conditions are becoming recognised more and more by clubs and schools, with increasing demand to hire our facilities for rowing camps. The clubrooms are available throughout the year for hire and include separate showers and toilet facilities, fullly equipped kitchen and a large hall.

The Mercer Club Regatta is held annually on the first or second Saturday in December. It is a popular friendly regatta set on a 1500m course against the current - a good warmup for the bigger 2000m regattas.

We are a proud club with a long history but it is our future that we are most excited about, as we keep building up and positioning ourselves to serve our rapidly growing community.
